A messy closet can be a reflection of one’s personality – messy person, messy closet. Moreover, those people easily find what they want in their mess. For them, there is not chaos. However, there are other people who think differently. And they would agree that having an organized closet would be beneficial. Not only would it save time, but it would bring a sense of tidiness into the room. Plus, it just looks nice.
If you want to try out closet organization or closet editing as I call it, you could do it yourself, or even better, you can have me to do it for you. This solution would be much easier and quicker. So, if you are considering it, here are a few things you should know before we even start.
What is closet organization?
Just like you would spend time decorating and setting up your house, your closet should go through this process, too. Think of it as a special kind of room. In this room, everything should have its own place. Bags, for example, go on the top. Shoes go on the bottom, and everything else goes in the middle. Moreover, the items could be color coordinated or divided by type. Either way, with closet organization, every piece of clothing you have, would find its place and stay there. This way, you would have a clean view and know where everything is at all times.
Why do stylists do this?
Once you hire a stylist, you will go through a type of cleansing. Firstly, you would probably have a talk about what you are looking for, what you want to change or add, about your style, and such things. Then, you and your stylist would go through your closet. At this point, you would be throwing out everything your stylist marks as “not good enough”. Any unflattering piece, anything out of fashion or just useless; it will all have to go. You might not like it, but this is how this works.
It is because of this negating or refusing to throw out certain things that you hire a professional. They will help you find your style, first of all. Then, they will help you build it up by teaching you what and how to shop. More importantly, they will bring you a peace of mind. Once you talk to them, you will learn how to stay organized. There will be no more problems with messiness and stress.
How do they do it?
Closet organizers are like interior designers for your closet. They will help you make that room a special one, where you would actually like to spend time in. It would be clean, well set up and in order. Each stylist, has their own method for closet organization. Some would do it in stages. Each day would be reserved for dealing with a certain type of clothing. For example, today, you would go through shoes and accessories and tomorrow, you would organize your jeans and pants.
Most stylists prefer to put clothing items into groups. Jeans go in one corner, skirts into the other, for instance. All the sweaters on one shelf, while t-shirts would be on the other. By grouping them, it would be a lot easier for you to find what you need. Moreover, by going a step further – color coordinating – you could make it even easier. There are many methods to reconsider. How you do it, depends on what suits you best, as well as how your stylist works. So, having a good talk beforehand is a must.
How much would it cost?
Like with any other job, the costs could vary. Not all professionals have the same price range. Some charge per hour, while others might charge per day or depending on the time and effort it would take them, that is, on the size of the project. Moreover, the prices could change depending on the city you are in.
